We went to a fabulous museum, The Legion of Honor, this morning.
It had a beautiful architecture and in the courtyard there was “The Thinker”.
I was very surprised to see it!
It was so cool to see the Roman style buildings and the inside matched the outside perfectly with the outside.
There was also a lot of Roman vases and jewelry.
I was surprised to find how similar their jewelry was to the jewelry you find today.
Like you could go to the store and pick out those same things.
It made me realize that humans really haven’t changed much over the years.
We still like to make art, look pretty, and enjoy life.

It was very cool to see all the beautiful Baroque artwork.
It was all so ornate and decorative.
And gold was everywhere.
I loved seeing that kind of artwork.
There was one thing that really caught my attention.
It was a carrier that the royalty would be carried around in.
It didn’t look very comfortable, but it was beautiful!
In one of the rooms of this museum, there was a gold mine of great artists.
I loved it!
I don’t have a lot of chances to see fine art, and especially not the ones that I found in this room.
I got to see Van Gogh, Cezanne, Picasso, Monet, Renoir, Manet, and Degas.
I bought a reproduction of one of the Monet’s.
It was one of those pieces that I could look at forever.
The colors were so soft, yet strong.
It was the highlight of my weekend!
Later that day we went to Muir Woods. It was so fun to see those gigantic trees and to be able to walk around. My mom did her report on Muir Woods so she told me lots of little tidbits, like there was a hippie camp in the middle of the woods that built a Buddhist statue in the middle. It was fun to see that place, but it was kind of crowded and I was pretty tired by then. But I still liked it!
After the woods, we started the drive home. We made it to Reno later that night and I was very happy to see that hotel! I had a lot of fun, but it was tiring.

Sunday we spent the day driving. I didn’t enjoy this part very much at all, but I knew if I wanted to get home then it had to be done. It did leave me with a lot of time to think about the week. It was so exciting to see all that art, but I was a little overwhelmed. I think if I was to do all that again I would’ve liked more time, but I understand the limitations that we had. I could see myself going back there and enjoying all of it all over again. It was a good time and I hope that someday I get the chance to go back.
