Just Because

Well, I haven't blogged in awhile and at my dad's persisting, I thought I'd write a little. Ever since school got out, I haven't really done much. The monday after, I got my wisdom teeth out. I don't remember much about the actual procedure. I think I might've woken up while they were yanking one of them out, though, because I have a hazy memory that involved a lot of pain and someone's hand in my mouth. I didn't tell my mom that, though, because I knew she'd freak out or something. But it's not so much of a secret anymore! And after I got done, it was really cold. The rest of the week involved a lot of pain pills and salt water and not a whole lot of solid food. I think that was one of the most depressing things. I love food too much to go off it for awhile. But I didn't get any infection and the swelling went down enough so I could play in church. I'm just really glad no one took any pictures because I did not like the way I looked! I was also glad that none of my friends were here to see me. I don't even think Lisa saw me, but that's ok. I don't mind.

Right now I'm house sitting for my grandma. It's nice to have a place where I can be alone, but, as I'm sure you can guess, it gets a little lonely. I'd almost prefer that to having somewhere that's too loud and too many people. I think I got that from my mom. The only thing that makes me nervous is people breaking into the house. I keep all the doors locked even when I'm here, but it still is in the back of my mind. So, you can imagine that I got a little freaked when I woke up and I heard someone coming through the back door! Good thing it was just my aunt. I didn't look the greatest, but at least she wasn't trying to steal anything.

Well, that's about all for me. School starts in a little over a week. Hopefully I can get my own room. I'll fight anyone that wants to take it away from me if there's any chance it can be mine. I like a little privacy.

Stress from Finals

Yesterday I went out with my roommate and her fiance and took their engagement pictures. I'm pretty sure I was a lot more nervous than they were! While we were out and about in the college gardens, we all heard this sound like a wagon going across the pavement. Since we were surrounded by all college students, this was a little weird. So while we were looking for the source of the noise, this guy in red long-johns went flying down the hill on a Big Wheel! A little while later, a girl followed him on another one! They went by about 3 times. I never got a picture of the guy, although I really wish I had!







I guess this is one way of relieving stress during finals week.

CL-3

I would also like a new belt, if you like that idea for a present. The belt I have now is basically falling apart and I only have one other one. The one that's falling apart is brown, but a black one would be just as welcome!

Christmas List-2

Ok, here are some things that I want to add to my Christmas list.

-Jeans because I found a hole in the butt of one of mine so now I'm down to one pair
-Shoes (preferably heels, but I'm all for cute flats too!)
-Or if you don't want to get me new shoes, have the bottom of the heel on my brown shoes fixed

And if you don't like any of those ideas, you can get me something fun! I realized most of the stuff on my list is "really need to get" stuff. I guess that's just what happens when you get old. No more fun stuff. But hey, maybe I'll get myself a boyfriend and that can be my fun Christmas present to myself!

Thanksgiving with the fam and my NEW CAMERA!!!!!!

This week I finally got my graduation present! It was originally going to be a computer, but it evolved into an awesome camera! I think the clincher was when my dad bought my mom all this brilliant new stuff for the camera he bought her! All of us kids felt a little juiced that year. But now I have my own camera that's just like hers and I love it! While I was at home for thanksgiving I decided to try it out and I think I got a few good shots! Tell me what you think!

Christmas List

Ok, this post is for both of you that read my blog! Since Lisa has my name and Mom is always looking for ideas, here is some of the things I would like for Christmas (I'm sure there will be more to add to this list later):

1. Small barrell curling iron so I can have ringlets and look like Juliet!
2. New bridge for my violin and preferrably someone to put it on so I won't be afraid Emma will come and hunt me down.
3. I guess that getting my bow rehaired would be nice. It probably should be done because I don't really remember the last time I had that done.
4. I kind of need some new rosin. Yeah.
5. Some cool movies like 10 Things I Hate About You, Fern Gulley, The Notebook, or anything else that you think would be cool so I can have something to do while I'm bored at my apartment!
6. A blowdryer. Cause I don't have one.
7. Clothes are always welcome.

I can't really think of much else, but there you two go! If you don't want to get me any of these, then I guess that's cool too. But you'd better make sure my present it awesome!

Today my mom sent me an email with some fabulous pictures on them. She told me about one of
them while we were in the car and she predicted that I would think that one was my favorite. Well, she was right. I really love it! Here it is:



I don't know what it is, but I think it's an amazing picture. Well I got a little curious and found the website where the pictures were found and managed to find a bunch more that I liked! Poem

I just really liked this poem. I can't remember who it was, but in my reading for my Teachings of the Living Prophets class we read a General Conference talk and he referenced it. I looked it up and decided to share it with you!

Scary!

Something exciting happened yesterday. My roommate got engaged! I'm so happy for her and her fiance' because she is so sweet and he is basically my buddy! However, they asked me something and I am so scared! They asked me to take their engagement pictures! I'm not sure if they really were serious or not, but I think they were. I told them that I have only taken 2 photography classes, but they didn't seem to care. I'm so terrified because I don't want to ruin their pictures that everyone they know will see! I told them I would try and if they didn't like them, they could go to someone else and I wouldn't be offended in the slightest. We'll just have to see how this works out. The good thing about it would be I would get more experience, start building my portfolio, and that could be my wedding present to them because there's no way I would charge a cent! It's going to be interesting.

Rodney Smith

I recently discovered a new photographer that I have fallen in love with. Well, at least with his pictures. I was glancing through my photography book one day and I found a picture that I loved. Well, I looked it up on the internet and what other pictures he had done. His style is very unique, but I have to say I find it so interesting. This is the picture I first found in my book.

I love picture of ballet dancers. They seem so graceful to me and excellant subjects. And it might also be because I have always had the secret desire to be a ballerina. Anyways, here are some more of his pictures. But keep in mind these are some of his more tame ones. You should look him up to see his other pictures. Tell me what you think of them!

Um...Yeah...

So Lisa said that I was getting way behind on my blogging, so here is one just for you sis! Things are going pretty good. I'm just going to school and working. School is actually kind of fun. I don't like my drawing class because I'm bad at it and I don't really like my geology class (either of them) because it stresses me out, but the other ones I really like! My photography class can be really trying sometimes with figuring out the developing times and worrying about ruining my film while developing it, but the pay-off is so great because you end up with something all your own! I would put the pics on here, but I don't have a scanner. Maybe I will sometime later. I love being in orchestra now because I'm not worried about where I sit or how much better everyone is than me. I can just enjoy it and do my best and trust that it's good enough! Although the semester started off rough (what with the whole mono thing), I'd have to say that it's going to end up being a good one. I had a little trouble with some of my roommates at first, but now it kind of is like we're a family. I like it. Mike (my boyfriend) was in Canada all last week, but he's back now so that makes me really happy! His uncle took him hunting up there because it's something they both really enjoy. And Mike didn't have to pay for anything, so he liked that! He said he had a lot of fun, although he was still a little sick from getting his wisdom teeth out. But he's such a tough guy, he probably didn't do anything about it except live with it. He's awesome. Well, that's pretty much my life right now. I have to work tonight. It's not that fun, but it means that I get more money to pay for school! So I'm ok with it.

About 2 weeks ago, I started feeling a little sick. I was achey all over and had a little bit of a fever. I wasn't too worried, and just tried to treat the symptoms as they came, but just go on with my life. I moved into my apartment that same week, which was a little hard just because of all the stress of new roommates, new rooms, new classes, and getting increasingly sick. My throat started to hurt pretty bad and I couldn't sleep at night. Then I started getting so nauseous that I could hardly eat anything without wanting to throw it back up. You can imagine how much fun I was, especially to all those girls that I just met! I started going through my first week of classes, and it was really hard. I wasn't getting enough sleep, so classes were a real trial. Then I couldn't eat, so I was always hungry and fatigued, but couldn't do much about it. I really was doing my best, but it felt like it just wasn't good enough. Well, friday morning, I woke up and my tonsils and lymph nodes were so swollen, it was getting hard to swallow anything or even breathe. And it hurt like heck. I told my mom about it and she convinced me to go to the doctor. I went and the doctor told me that it sounded like I was chocking on my tonsils. I had a blood test and they swabbed the back of my throat. I thought it was going to be strep, but turns out it was something much better. I won the prize and found out I have mono! Apparently it's a pretty bad case too. Now I'm taking about 6 pills a day and many doses of pain medicine so it doesn't hurt as much to swallow. I can't drive and my head is kind of fuzzy, but I'm glad that I'm getting things figured out! Now I'm at home so I can get my family sick instead of my roommates, but my mama is doing a good job of making me feel better. She even bought me my favorite breakfeast even though I'm only here for the weekend! She's the best! Hopefully I'll get better soon so I won't have to skip any classes and my roommates won't continue to think I'm the most boring, anti-social person on the planet.

It Finally Happened!

This week I made a pretty big change. I moved out of the house for the first time. For the first time in my entire life, I won't be spending every night (well, close to every night) sleeping in my dungeon of a bedroom that has no window. I'm going to miss that because now the sun coming into my bedroom will wake me up. I'm living with 5 other girls, and no guys. No more pummeling. No more seepy time. No more kitties sleeping on my throat while I'm trying to sleep. I'm going to miss it, but I need to start depending on myself. I'm going to miss my family a lot. Except for the yelling and chore lists (oh wait, still have that) and argueing over who's tv it really is (ok, might still get that too). It's a good thing I only moved 2 miles away so I can still come back and enjoy all those things whenever I want! And I won't even have to pay for laundry! I'm glad I moved out because it's nice to feel like an adult, but the Peter-Pan in all of us holds me back a little. Not very much, but it's still there. Nothing's going to be the same, but change is for the better. It gives us the chance to learn and grow in a way that we couldn't before. But now that I'm all moved out, I can spend as much time as I want with my man and no one is going to do anything about it! (just kitting mom!)

Playin' in the Gardens

Last Sunday, I went with my mom and brother to the college gardens. The reason we went was to try and take my brothers senior pictures. I went more as a second opinion and just because I wanted to get out of the house. Andy was less that cooperative, but I think we did get some good shots! My mom will probably blog about this as well, so I'll let her put on the pictures of Andy. After we ended the horrible torture on Andy, I told my mom she should take some pictures of me! I was in kind of a weird mood. I must've been because I really don't like pictures of myself. My mom said that I was a much better model than Andy, but that wasn't hard because I was actually smiling! Here are a few of the pics!

Random-Part 2

Just a little follow up on my first post. Jay, the guy who started talking to me first, is now one of my best friends and is so funny! He just broke up with his girlfriend, but I think another one is not far away. But it won't get too serious because he'll leave for his mission in a short while! He left to go home so he could go through the temple and get his endowments taken out! Mike, the other guy, is a different story. He is now my boyfriend. I think it's a great story as to how we met! He's one of the nicest guys I know and I think one of his greatest attributes is that he is so excited to go on a mission. He spends every night reading as much as he can to get prepared. I asked him what his favorite scripture was and he said it was 3rd Nephi 27-31 because that was the first lesson he taught when he was with the missionaries on missionary splits. I think I have learned a lot from him. I know he loves the gospel and that really means a lot to me. Even if this doesn't work out, I still think I'll come away having learned a lot.

Random!

I work at a custard shop. Last Saturday, I had some very funny things happen! The first thing that happened was with this little girl and her dad. I got the little girl a cone and her dad got her all settled before paying me. When he came over to the counter, he said to me, "I just have to tell you something. My little girl just said 'I love her.' I asked her who she was talking about and she said 'The girl who gave me the ice cream!'" It made me so happy to hear that! A while later, an older couple came in with two boys who looked about my age. They were all kind of joking around with me and having a great time. The older woman paid, and while I was helping her, I heard the man saying, "Well why don't you get her number?" I was a little taken aback and just ignored it. But then the woman said "Well we have to find out how old she is! (So turning to me, she said) How old are you?" I told her 19. She then handed me her receit and told me I had to put my name and number on it! I don't think well under pressure, so I just did it. A while later one of the boys started texting me and it turns out that we have a lot in common! Then the other boy started texting me and now they are some of my good friends! I went to lunch with them and had a blast! I love the randomness of life!
