We made it through another week! Earlier this week was pretty cold. On Monday morning at 8:30 I looked at my phone and it was -24 degrees. School got cancelled Monday and Tuesday because of the extreme cold. Asher was pretty excited about that! My girls who are in Kindergarten and are still in the "learn through play" phase were a little disappointed.
On Monday, even though is was negative degrees outside, we still bundled up and went to the ENT for Asher and Ava. Ok, Asher and Ava bundled up and Mia was wearing shorts. I did manage to talk her into wearing a coat. I thought I was going to have to exaggerate their symptoms to convince the doctor to take their tonsils out, but that ended up not being the case. He said that because Asher has gotten strep so often the last year and Ava snores and her tonsils were more inflamed, that they both should get them out. He also asked if they move around a lot in their sleep and wake up, which they both do but I think it has more to do with genetics...Ava talks in her sleep and Asher wakes up a lot, but I think they get that from David. But I didn't mention that.
He also asked how often Ava gets a sore throat. I told him every 2 or 3 months which he then said that was another reason to get her tonsils out. I asked how often a normal person gets a sore throat because that was pretty normal for everyone in our family. He said twice a year! I think my eyes popped out of my head! That would be so nice if it only happened twice a year! Our humidifiers have basically been running non-stop since October because everyone has some sickness that is usually accompanied by a sore throat. So something to look forward to after they get their tonsils out is hopefully less sickness! Also at this appointment the doctor said both Asher and Ava looked like allergies were blocking off their noses slightly. So I get to spray allergy medicine up their noses for the next 6 weeks.
They are scheduled to get their tonsils out on Feb 10. It's a Friday and I have rehearsal that night and a rehearsal and concert the next day, so David is really looking forward to taking care of the two of them on his own for a couple days!
On Tuesday David started having a sore throat and went into the doctor. They started him on another round of antibiotics. Tuesday night Ava said he throat hurt. By Wednesday morning her tonsils were so swollen she sounded like they were blocking off her throat when she talked. So I kept her home from school, sent the other two off and took her into the doctor. He started her on another round of antibiotics, but this kind was harder to find. They didn't have any at Wal-Mart, so we had to get it from Walgreens.
Yesterday and today have been pretty quiet. The kids all went to school and I've been trying to get things back to normal after a long weekend of everyone being home. David is at All-State this weekend so it's just been the kids and I. I have done zero practicing for the concert next week which I'm a little nervous about. I did glance at the music and it didn't look super difficult, hopefully that's the case! We have our own little pharmacy at home with everyone and their different medications. Asher finally finished his 2nd round of antibiotics, but this morning he said his throat was hurting again. If he gets strep again I'm taking us all in to get tested for strep because I am starting to think that Mia or I are asymptomatic carriers. So look forward to that update next time!

| Ava loves her doggy. Like a lot. And Millie is very good at tolerating Ava's love. 😊 |

I'm glad you are getting those kid's tonsils out. Maybe you and David should get yours out next. I just had a friend my age get hers out last week and she lived through it. She's still has a lot of pain, but she thinks she's getting a little better. But she's like 65. I'm sure you and David would have no problem. *cough cough*
We just need spring to come. Then everyone can have summer colds. Much better than winter colds, cause, you know, we're not cold. LOL
I was practicing the symphony music tonight. So. Many. Arpeggios. That's basically all we do. Most of it isn't too bad, but some of the really fast one's are tricky. It should be fun!
