Warning...Slightly Graphic Pictures...

Yesterday, David and I were both off at night so we decided it would be fun to make dinner together.  I'd been craving pizza for awhile so we decided to do that.  I wasn't going to be very expensive and it would be fun to do.  So we found a recipe, went grocery shopping, rented a movie, and headed home.  Once we got home, we decided to watch the movie even though it was about 2 in the afternoon.  It's pretty easy to black out our apartment so we closed the shades, drew the curtain, and were off!  About half way through the movie, we took a nap.  3 hours later and we watched the rest of it!  It was really nice not to have anything else to do.  That's pretty unusual for us.

So after the movie I started making the pizza dough.  I let it rise for the time it said, and after that I grabbed David so he could help me stretch out the dough. I told David we had to divide the dough in half so we could make 2 smaller pizza's.  He got really excited because it was the perfect chance to use the ulu David's aunt gave us for a wedding present.  We don't use it all that often but it's nice when we do use it because it's so sharp.  So I turn around while David's cleaning off the ulu with a rag when I hear David yell out.  I turn around to see the rag on the floor, the ulu thrown in the sink, and David's hand dripping with blood.  While he was cleaning the ulu off, it cut through the rag and right through his finger. Well, not all the way through, but enough to see the fat.  So pizza making was put off for a little bit while I drove David to the doctor.  We got there 15 minutes before they closed which I was really glad for because it was a lot less expensive to go there than the hospital.  Here's a slightly graphic shot I took of the cut while at the doctor:

And David being gross while waiting for the stitches.

He ended up getting 4 stitches.  They gave him quite a bit of numbing medication and all night he kept updating me on how much more of his finger he could feel.  Since it's his right hand he has more trouble doing things like writing, getting dressed, or washing his hair but the really fun thing is going to be how he is going to play his cello (right where he cut his finger is where he puts most of the pressure while holding his bow) and working out at the cemetery where he shovels dirt and lays down sod.  Not too fun...

So after that hour long hiatus, we got back to making the pizza!  It was actually really good!  Here are a few shots of the night:

We were trying to take the picture of ourselves with us and the pizza...so that's why we are laying on the table....

It tasted pretty good!
So even though we had David's little accident, I think the night turned out pretty good.  I'm glad we were able to laugh through pretty much all of it.  And I'm also glad the night was ruined and we could still enjoy a good meal together!

My favorite part of this is David updating you all night on his numbness state. ha ha ha
